Coach Joe’s Changes to Buck Wilds in Frisco

Believe it or not we have a whole population of Frisco that is over 21 and a lot of those folks really like their sports. Now those folks have a new venue that is working towards entertaining them. Coach Joe’s at Preston & Main Street is under new ownership as of February, 2009. You will start to see that new signage promoting the new name “Buck Wilds” in the coming month.

Mall operator says Chapter 11 filing won’t affect shopping at Galleria, Stonebriar, other centers

Shopping, uninterrupted.That’s the message General Growth Properties Inc., the second-largest U.S. mall operator, struggled to get out Thursday after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The company said none of its 200 malls – including several in the Dallas area – is closing and shoppers shouldn’t notice anything different. But there’s a chance your favorite mall could be sold over the next few months, the company said.

Foreclosed Phillips Creek Ranch sold

Frisco planned development Phillips Creek Ranch has been purchased by Dallas-based Republic Property Group after the original developer couldn’t secure financing and the property went into foreclosure.

Republic will work with the City of Frisco to determine how best to proceed with redrawing plans originally approved for the 1,000-acre tract two years ago, said Jake Wagner, vice president for development and acquisitions for Republic. Wagner declined to divulge the purchase price.

Council delays vote on Tollway land sale extension

Several City Council members sparred with Zarky Development over the extension of a deadline for the company to purchase land from the city along the Dallas North Tollway.

The council voted, 3-2, to table the decision until December so further information may be obtained before making a decision. Mayor Pro Tem Tony Felker cast the tiebreaking vote. He led the council meeting because Mayor Maher Maso was out of town.

A Zarky representative asked for a two-year extension on the sale, citing the economy and changes in the scope of the development for the delay.

“For the current economic situation within the country … there are significant issues we’re dealing with on the real estate investment side of the business,” Chris Curry said.

Comstock Resources reports record earnings

Independent energy company Comstock Resources Inc. said Monday the company posted record earnings in the third quarter on the sale of its interest in Bois d’Arc, an independent energy exploration company.

Frisco-based Comstock (NYSE: CRK) said it earned $224.6 million, or $4.91 per diluted share, in the third quarter, up from $16.4 million, or 37 cents per diluted share, during the same period last year.

Comstock Resources, Inc. specializes in oil and gas acquisitions, exploration and development. The company focuses in areas like Louisiana and Texas.
